This is a great new opportunity for a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to join the Level III NICU team at this leading academic children's hospital location in Ohio. Dedicated and experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners provide specialized care for babies born prematurely and others with complex health conditions in their neonatal intensive care unit. This is an exciting full-time opportunity for an experienced NNP to direct patient care and treatment for acute, critically ill, and medically complex newborns. This is a full time, benefits eligible position.
Responsibilities of the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Level III NICU Job:
Obtain admission histories
Perform complete newborn physicals and evaluations
Order, perform, and interpret laboratory, diagnostic, and therapeutic tests, interventions, and proceduresAssess, plan, implement, and evaluate appropriate plans of care
Participate in team-based rounds documenting and effectively communicating plans of care and progress
Request consults and initiate referrals for specialized care of NICU patients
Provide patient, family, and staff support and education
Assist in assessing continuing education needs of the entire neonatal health care team
Participate in the orientation of new neonatal nurse practitioners
Participate in research, professional, and organizational activities that contribute to improving neonatal patient care
Mentor other healthcare team members as they develop clinical competences and enhance their careers
Qualifications for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Level III NICU Job:
Current RN license in the State of Ohio
National NNP certification
Certificate of Authority to practice as an advanced practice nurse in the State of Ohio
Certificate to Prescribe or Certificate to Prescribe externship in the State of Ohio
Demonstrated clinical skills and competencies in neonatal intensive care nursing
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Education Requirements for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Level III NICU Job:
Master's degree in Nursing is required. A Doctorate in Nursing Practice or PhD is preferred.
