If you are an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with RNFA experience, consider this great job opportunity with a leading academic children's hospital on the West Coast in their Cardiothoracic Surgery Unit. Their team of cardiac surgeons and advanced practice providers is considered one of the top CT programs in the nation as they perform over 600 surgeries a year. Responsibilities in this AC Pediatric Nurse Practitioner role include pre- and post-op patient care, and first and second assist in pediatric cardiothoracic surgeries, adult CT surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and ventricular assist devices. This is a full time, rotating day/night position with 4 ten hour shifts and required call approximately 1 week each month.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the Acute Care PNP in CT Surgery Job:
Assume first and second assist responsibilities in pediatric cardiothoracic surgeries, adult congenital cardiothoracic surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and ventricular assist devices (VADs)
Perform comprehensive pre-operative evaluation of patients with congenital or acquired heart disease including medical and anesthetic histories, physical exams, laboratory, x-ray, and diagnostic test interpretation, and medication interactions
Provide post-operative surgical care for pediatric and adult patients including wound care, management of surgical lines and tubes, facilitation of discharge arrangements, and post-operative education, counseling, and support for patients and their families
Administer, order, furnish, and prescribe medications if authorized by the supervising physician
Assume precept and mentoring responsibilities for nurse practitioner students

Qualifications

Qualifications for the Acute Care PNP in CT Surgery Job:
Current, valid RN license in the State of California
Current Acute Care PNP certification
Current RNFA certification
Current life support certifications in BLS, PALS, and ACLS
Current U.S. DEA registration if PNP is authorized by the supervising physician to issue drug orders for controlled substances

Master's degree in Nursing
