| Clinical Nurse Specialist
This leading academic children's hospital in California has an exciting job opportunity for an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join their team that provides care for their critically ill and injured pediatric patients in various units of the hospital. The CNS in this role is a clinical expert, an advanced practice nurse, APRN, who collaborates with the healthcare team to provide clinical nursing care and support in addition to being a role model and mentor, patient and family advocate, change agent, consultant, and researcher. The CNS may assist the clinical education team in developing educational content for training nurses. This is a full time, days, Monday to Friday exempt position.
Responsibilities of the Clinical Nurse Specialist Job:
Perform admission histories and physicals
Assess and interpret laboratory test and procedure data and information to identify patient care requirements
Provide diagnostic and therapeutic interventions in collaboration with the attending physician
Create plans of care for the entire patient course
Advocate for and provide patient, family, and staff support and education
Analyze data for cost-effective and quality patient outcomes
Serve as a role model and mentor, educating staff to ensure a healthy, safe, and secure work environment
Provide solutions for complex systems and processes
Develop protocols and policies incorporating evidence-based practice and research to ensure safe patient care
Qualifications for the Clinical Nurse Specialist Job:
Current California RN license
Current California Clinical Nurse Specialist license
National CNS certification is preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 30 days of hire or transfer into the position.
Education Requirements for the Clinical Nurse Specialist Job:
Master's Degree in Nursing
