| Cardiac ICU and Cardiac Care Unit
The Physician Assistant with pediatric cardiac experience is a great candidate for this new job opportunity on the inpatient cardiac team of this growing academic children's hospital in the Midwestern U.S. The PA in this position provides care for patients with congenital or acquired cardiac conditions, many of whom are awaiting or recovering from cardiac surgery or transplant. The Physician Assistant is responsible for providing comprehensive individualized care including diagnosing, treating, and managing the care of a whole spectrum of cardiac patients in this growing cardiac service line from newborn to adult, ICU to discharge, with both surgical and medical conditions. This is a full time position that offers a competitive compensation and benefit program along with a generous annual continuing education allowance.
Responsibilities of the PA CVICU/CCU Job:
Obtain histories and perform physical examinations
Order, conduct, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures
Develop, implement, monitor, and revise plans of care and treatment
Order and administer therapeutic treatments and medications
Perform invasive procedures
Prescribe therapeutic measures and medications
Document, assess, and evaluate patient response to therapy, changes in condition and therapeutic interventions and procedures
Provide education and support for patients and their families regarding diagnosis and ongoing care
Monitor standards of practice and recommend ways to improve clinical patient care
Participate in educational and research activities
Provide leadership within the CVICU team and mentor student practitioners
Participate in professional organizations, and performance and quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications for the PA CVICU/CCU Job:
Current and valid unrestricted Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Nebraska
Current and valid national Physician Assistant certification
Current active Federal DEA license
Current and valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Current and valid Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, or within six months of hire
Current and valid PALS Instructor certification is preferred
Education Requirements for the PA CVICU/CCU Job:
Graduate of a Master's level accredited educational program for Physician Assistants
