Consider this great new job opportunity for the experienced Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with their Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification to join the Mental Health Services team at this leading academic children's hospital in California. In their new 18 bed mental health inpatient unit, you will plan, implement, and evaluate plans of care. Reporting to the Mental Health Director, the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner functions in an Advanced Practice role as a clinical expert in the management of pediatric patients within a family centered care environment. This is a full-time 5 day, 8 hour evening position, 5 pm to 1 am, with 1 weekend every month and 2 weekend days, 9 am to 5 pm, per month. Responsibilities of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Job:
Conduct psychiatric evaluations
Screen patients for physical illness
Order, perform, and interpret laboratory tests, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Develop and monitor plans of care
Prescribe and monitor medications
Work closely with families regarding treatment plans, medication management, and possible family therapy
Provide education and support for patients and their families
Work independently and collaborate and consult with the multidisciplinary team
Qualifications for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Job:
Current RN and NP licenses in California
Current National NP certification
Current Pediatric Nursing Certification Board, PNCB certification
Current Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification
Current BLS and PALS certifications
Current DEA registration
Critical analysis and problem solving skills
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage in effective conflict resolution
Education Requirements of the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Job:
Master's degree in Nursing and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program

Two years of pediatric direct nursing care experience
One+ years of pediatric nurse practitioner clinical experience; mental health experience is strongly desired
