Consider this amazing job opportunity to join the neonatal intensive care team as the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at this outlying hospital location of a top ten leading academic children's hospital in Ohio. The NNP in this Level III NICU directs patient care and treatment for acute, critically ill, and medically complex newborns. The hospital is part of the largest neonatal network in the nation, partnering with a top ten leading academic children's hospital in the State of Ohio. It is currently undergoing expansion and the addition of space, some of which includes additional maternity beds and labor and delivery space to accommodate their more than 2,500 annual deliveries. This opportunity is a full time position.
Responsibilities of the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Level III NICU Job:
Obtain admission histories
Perform complete newborn physicals and evaluations
Order, perform, and interpret laboratory, diagnostic, and therapeutic tests, interventions, and procedures
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate appropriate plans of care
Participate in team-based rounds documenting and effectively communicating plans of care and progress
Request consults and initiate referrals for specialized care of NICU patients
Provide patient, family, and staff support and education
Assist in assessing continuing education needs of the entire neonatal health care team
Participate in planning and presenting educational programs for the entire neonatal health care team
Plan and participate in the orientation of new neonatal nurse practitioners
Participate in the peer review process to evaluate patient care and NNP competency in the NICU
Participate in research, professional, and organizational activities that contribute to improving neonatal patient care
Mentor other healthcare team members as they develop their clinical competences and enhance their careers
Qualifications for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Level III NICU Job:
Current RN license in the State of Ohio
National NNP certification
Certificate of Authority to practice as an advanced practice nurse in the State of Ohio
Certificate to Prescribe or Certificate to Prescribe externship in the State of Ohio
Demonstrated clinical skills and competence in neonatal intensive care nursing
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal communication skills, teaching ability, and an advanced level of critical thinking and decision making skills
Education Requirements for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Level III NICU Job:
Master's degree in Nursing is required. A Doctorate in Nursing Practice or PhD is preferred.
