This is an exciting job opportunity for an experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioner working in this Level IV 88 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, NICU that provides the most advanced level of family-centered care possible for their tiny patients. The NNP has special training in neonatal nursing and critical care of the NICU patient. This position includes many roles, expert practitioner, consultant, educator, patient advocate, care coordinator and researcher in the NICU. Consider this great full time job opportunity!
Responsibilities of the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Job:
Assess patients through histories and physical examinations
Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures
Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized plans of care based on patient conditions
Recommend appropriate treatments and evaluate clinical outcomes
Prescribe, order and administer medications
Provide education and support that address the needs of NICU patients and their families
Qualifications for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Job:
Current RN license in California
Nurse Practitioner certification in the State of California
National NP Certification by an applicable nurse practitioner certifying body, or demonstrated eligibility and progress toward certification
Competence in physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology and management of acute and chronic neonatal problems
BLS and NRP certifications
Bilingual skills are desirable
In addition to this full time position in the Level IV main hospital NICU, there are other opportunities for 12 and 16 hour day, night and weekend shifts at satellite hospital Level II and III NICU locations that include attending deliveries. PLEASE NOTE: New graduate NNPs with the required RN experience in the NICU are eligible for these positions.
Education Requirements for the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Job:
Master's degree in Nursing or a Master's degree in a clinical field related to nursing
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
