The Physician Assistant with an extensive clinical background and experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery is a strong candidate to join the multidisciplinary team as the First Assist PA in CT Surgery at this leading academic children's hospital where care is provided for pediatric patients who are undergoing surgery to correct congenital and acquired heart conditions. The PA in this role is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive, quality, patient care including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions. They have first assist, pre- and post- operative care, and clinic responsibilities in this strong team environment, specifically designed to provide the best possible care for patients being treated for complex heart conditions. This is a full time, days position with an excellent salary and a very comprehensive benefit program.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the PA in the CT Surgery Job:
Assess patient conditions through histories and physical examinations
Order, perform, and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests and procedures
Collaborate with the surgical team to establish diagnoses and develop treatment plans
Assume First Assist responsibilities in the OR
Initiate and followup on appropriate consultations and referrals
Provide continuity of care before, during, and after surgery, including followup outpatient care in the clinic
Advocate for patients acting as liaison between patients and physicians
Provide education and support for surgical patients and their families
Participate in continuous performance and quality improvement projects for the department and the organization
Qualifications
Qualifications for the PA in the CT Surgery Job:
Current Physician Assistant Licensure in the State of California
National PA certification is preferred
Current surgical First Assist certification
Current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications
Current furnishing number or eligible from the California BRN
Current DEA registration or eligible
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to direct projects and assist with team building and quality initiatives
Education Requirements

Graduate of a Master's level accredited educational program for physician assistants
