If you are a Physician Assistant with special training, skills, and experience in caring for critically ill patients in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, you are a strong candidate for this job at a leading academic children's hospital in Illinois. As a member of the NICU team in their 44 bed Level IV unit, the PA provides direct family-centered care for critically ill medical/surgical premature and newborn infants up to one year of age with respiratory distress, pulmonary hypertension, neurological complications, gastrointestinal diseases, and renal abnormalities. The NICU is equipped with ECMO, nitric oxide, high frequency ventilation, and other cutting edge treatments and therapies for their tiniest and sickest recovering infants. A generous sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available for this full-time job with rotating day/night shifts.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Physician Assistant Level IV NICU Job:
Obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations
Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic tests and procedures
Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
Perform therapeutic or corrective measures to treat illness and improve health conditions
Provide education and support for patients and their families
Attend high-risk deliveries at outreach hospitals
Collaborate with other healthcare teams to ensure the best possible care and service
Promote the advancement of the nursing profession through publication, participation in professional organizations, and educating and mentoring nursing staff and NNP students
Participate in research, and program design, implementation, and interpretation
Qualifications
Qualifications for the Physician Assistant Level IV NICU Job
Active PA licensure in the State of Illinois
Current BLS and Pediatric/Neonatal Advanced Life Support certifications
National Physician Assistant Certification
Basic computer skills and excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
