90575 - This is a great job opportunity for the Pediatric Physician Assistant with First Assist experience to join the newly expanding Neurosurgery department at this leading California Medical Center that's affiliated with one of the top academic children's hospitals in the U.S. Patients include those who require routine pediatric neurosurgery care to those needing more complex patient management for conditions such as brain tumors, hydrocephalus, Spina Bifida, head trauma, craniofacial abnormalities and Chiari malformation. Responsibilities of the PA First Assist Pediatric Neurosurgery job include first assist in the OR, inpatient care, outpatient clinic duties and community outreach. This is a full time 8 hour days position, with no weekends, nights, holidays, or call.

Responsibilities of the Physician Assistant First Assist in Pediatric Neurosurgery Job:
Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations on new and returning patients
Order, perform, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic studies
Administer, order, furnish, and prescribe medications
Order and collect specimens for routine laboratory tests, screening, and therapeutic procedures
Order physical therapy, occupational therapy, respiratory therapy, radiology examinations, and nursing services
Perform designated procedures after demonstrated competency
Obtain informed consent as indicated
Directly assist the supervising neurosurgery physician in the OR during the intraoperative phase
Provide education and support for patients and their families
Facilitate the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services
Initiate arrangements for hospital admissions and discharges; complete appropriate paperwork
Facilitate collaboration between providers and coordination for community resources
Qualifications for the Physician Assistant First Assist in Pediatric Neurosurgery Job:
Licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA) in the State of California
Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA) by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants, NCCPA
Certification in Basic Life Support, BLS, from the American Heart Association
Individual Drug Enforcement Agency, DEA, license for Schedule II-V controlled substances
