90365 - Join this leading academic center children's hospital at their northern campus as a Pediatric Physician Assistant in their Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The campus is located in the 6th largest growing county in the nation and offers the largest suburban group of pediatric specialists in the U.S. The level II PICU has 12 intensive care beds, all of which are in single rooms. The Pediatric Physician Assistant is a member of the PICU team that provides 24/7 coverage for pediatric patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions including shock, acute lung injury, ENT surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurological disorders, ingestions and endocrine disorders that require intensive monitoring and care.
Obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations
Collaborate with attending physicians in managing the entire patient course
Develop, monitor and revise plans of care
Order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures
Provide PICU consultation services
Initiate referrals and follow up on consults to other providers
Respond to all hospital code and rapid response events
Provide education and support for patients and families regarding diagnosis, ongoing care and prescribed medical treatments and medications
Graduate of a Master's level accredited program for Physician Assistants, required
Recognition as a physician assistant (PA-C) licensed in the State of Texas, required
Current CPR/BLS and PALS certifications, required
Two years of previous PA PICU experience, required
