90458 - The Clinical Nurse Specialist with a background in surgical nursing is a strong candidate for this position as the Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist with a hospital located on the West coast. In their clinical role, the Perioperative CNS is responsible for the pre-op, surgical and post-op management of surgical patients, providing direct and indirect care to patients and their families. The Clinical Nurse Specialist also provides advanced clinical practice education, consultation, research, and administration.
Obtain pre-op histories and perform physical examinations
Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate plans of care
Design education programs for surgical patients and their families, and assist staff in program implementation
Evaluate patient care quality in the surgical unit, and identify competency based needs of staff
Develop educational and professional development programs for surgical unit staff
Introduce new techniques and innovations based on advanced practice trends
Provide consultation services to other health care providers in inpatient and outpatient settings
Participate in research and recommend changes in standards of care based on research findings
Assist in interviewing, reviewing, and evaluating staff
Provide career coaching, counseling, and mentoring
MSN from an accredited school of nursing, required
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California, required
CNS certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing, required
Current BLS certification, required
ACLS or PALS certification, preferred
National Provider Identifier certification (NPI) by start date, required
Minimum of 3 years of recent surgical experience, required
CNS experience, preferred
