Responsibilities for the Clinical Nurse Specialist job:
Obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations
Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate plans of care for high risk patients
Design education programs for patients and their families and assist staff in program implementation
Evaluate patient care quality and identify competency-based needs of staff
Develop educational and professional development programs for nursing staff
Introduce new techniques and innovations based on advanced practice trends
Provide consultation services to other health care providers in inpatient and outpatient settings
Participate in research and recommend changes in standards of care based on research findings
Assist in interviewing, reviewing, and evaluating staff
Provide career coaching, counseling, and mentoring
Qualifications for the Clinical Nurse Specialist job:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
CNS certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing
Current BLS certification
National Provider Identifier certification (NPI) by start date
ACLS or PALS certification, preferred
