90483 - The Clinical Nurse Specialist with a background in geriatric nursing is a strong candidate for this position as the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Geriatric Care with a hospital located on the West coast. In their clinical role, the Geriatric CNS is responsible for the management of geriatric (older adult) patients, providing direct and indirect care to patients and their families. The Clinical Nurse Specialist also provides advanced clinical practice education, consultation, research, and administration.

Responsibilities for the Clinical Nurse Specialist job:
Obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations
Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate plans of care
Design education programs for geriatric patients and their families, and assist staff in program implementation
Evaluate patient care quality in the geriatric unit, and identify competency based needs of staff
Develop educational and professional development programs for geriatric unit staff
Introduce new techniques and innovations based on advanced practice trends
Provide consultation services to other health care providers in inpatient and outpatient settings
Participate in research and recommend changes in standards of care based on research findings
Assist in interviewing, reviewing, and evaluating staff
Provide career coaching, counseling, and mentoring
Qualifications for the Clinical Nurse Specialist job:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
CNS certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing
Current BLS certification
National Provider Identifier certification (NPI) by start date
ACLS or PALS certification, preferred
