90372 - The Clinical Nurse Specialist with a background in Geriatrics is a strong candidate for this position in the Geriatric Unit of this Northern California hospital where aging and elderly patients, some with several medical conditions that have developed later in life, receive high-quality care and treatment for their special needs. The CNS in the Geriatric Unit is a leader and clinical expert who is skilled in assessing and treating patients to ensure the best possible outcome for them. They are an educator and mentor who develops and delivers educational programs for patients, families, and staff while promoting an environment of continuous learning within the organization.

Responsibilities for the Clinical Nurse Specialist:
Collaborate with staff to assess patient care needs for complex and high risk patients
Develop, implement, monitor and evaluate plans of care
Design educational programs for patients and families, and assist staff in program implementation
Advocate for the patients and liaison with the patients, families and physicians
Assess staff knowledge and identify competency-based educational needs of staff members
Design and implement new programs that support advanced practice nursing trends
Participate in research and make recommendations for changing standards of care based on research findings
Assist in interviewing, reviewing, and evaluating staff
Provide career coaching, counseling, and mentoring
Qualifications for the Clinical Nurse Specialist:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
CNS certification by the California Board of Registered Nursing
Current BLS certification
CNS experience, preferred
ACLS or PALS certification, preferred
